Set up Bridgebot in minutes

Step 1: Create a Telegram bot

Contact the BotFather on Telegram and follow the prompts to create a new bot. Save your bot token for the next step.

Step 2: Install the Bridgebot app to Slack

Add the Bridgebot app to your Slack workspace through the Slack App Directory.

Step 3: Configure Bridgebot

Enter your Telegram bot token in the Bridgebot dashboard and connect it to your Slack workspace.

Step 4: Add your bot to Telegram groups

Add your Telegram bot to group chats you want to monitor and start receiving messages in Slack.

Creating a Telegram bot with BotFather

Step 1: Start a chat with BotFather

Open Telegram and search for @BotFather. Start a conversation and send the command /newbot.

Step 2: Name your bot

Choose a name and username for your bot. The username must end in 'bot'.

Step 3: Get your API token

BotFather will provide an API token. This is what you'll use to configure Bridgebot.

Step 4: Configure bot privacy settings

Send /setprivacy to BotFather and disable privacy mode for your bot to ensure it can see all messages in group chats.

Create User Accounts

From the Admin Panel, navigate to "Users" and click "Add User" to create new user accounts.

Configure Bot Permissions

Assign Telegram bots to specific users through the "Bot Management" section of the Admin Panel.

Manage Team Members

Add team member Telegram IDs for each user in the "Team Management" section to enable proper message handling and notifications.

Channel Categories

On the team plan, Bridgebot supports four primary channel categories:

  • Inbox: Default landing channel for all new messages
  • Sales: For conversations related to sales inquiries
  • Support: For technical support questions
  • Muted: For low-priority or archived conversations

Moving Messages

Use the buttons on Slack messages to move conversations between channels. When a message is moved, all notifications for that chat will appear in the new channel.

Token encryption and secure credential management

Token Security

All API tokens are securely encrypted in storage. Tokens are only decrypted in memory when needed for API operations.

Multi-User Security

In multi-user environments, each user's credentials are isolated and cannot be accessed by other users.

Message Privacy

Bridgebot does not store message content in the database. Messages are only forwarded between platforms without persistent storage.
